'How much does a caretaker cost in Hyderabad?' is the first question most families ask, and the honest answer is 'it depends', which is unsatisfying unless you know what it depends on. This guide explains the factors, how live-in arrangements are priced, and how to compare providers, so you can judge any quote, including ours.
1. The type of staff
Caregivers and patient attendants (non-medical daily care) are priced lower than qualified nurses (clinical care under a doctor's direction). Baby-care attendants with newborn experience are usually priced similarly to elderly caregivers. Do not pay nursing rates for caregiving tasks.
2. How live-in care is priced
| Arrangement | How it is usually priced | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Live-in caregiver or attendant | Per month | One person stays in the home round the clock; family provides rest space and meals |
| Live-in nurse | Per month | Higher than caregiving; for prescribed clinical tasks |
| Nurse plus attendant | Per month, two people | For heavy-care patients with clinical needs |
| Hospital bystander | Per day | For the length of the hospital stay |
3. The patient's needs
A largely mobile elder who needs company and reminders costs less to care for than a bedridden patient who needs two-hourly repositioning and heavy lifting. Providers should ask about mobility, continence, weight, cognition and the doctor's plan before quoting. If a provider quotes a fixed price without asking, be cautious.
4. Duration
Short arrangements after discharge and long-term arrangements for elders are both priced monthly. Ask what happens if you need to stop early or extend.
What the family provides
Live-in care assumes the family provides a place to sleep, meals or an agreed allowance, and reasonable rest time including a weekly rest day. These are not hidden costs, but they are part of the arrangement and should be clear in the quote.
How to compare quotes
- Scope: exactly what tasks are included, and what is not
- Replacement: what happens if the caregiver is unwell or absent, and how fast
- Rest day: how it is handled and whether cover is included
- Coordinator: is there someone to call, and when
- Verification: what checks are done on staff (ask for specifics, not 'fully verified')
- Payment terms: advance, monthly, what happens on early termination
- Written quote: insist on it, and on the same details from every provider you compare
What we do
After a short assessment call we send a written monthly quote that states the staff type, what is included, replacement cover, rest-day arrangements and payment terms. There is no obligation. If we think a caregiver would serve you as well as a nurse, we say so.
