Terms and conditions
What you can expect from us, and what we ask of families. Written to be read, not to be survived.
Last updated: 12 September 2026
1. These terms
These terms apply between Shiva Kaartikeya Homecare Services (we, us, our) and the person or family engaging our services (you). They cover both the use of this website and the care we arrange in your home. By engaging us, you accept these terms.
Your written quote comes first. Where the quote we send you and these terms say different things about your particular engagement, the quote governs. Anything the quote does not cover is governed by these terms.
2. What we provide
We are a home care provider. We select, brief, place and supervise caregivers, patient attendants, newborn-care attendants and, where arranged, qualified nurses, in family homes across Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
24/7 live-in care only. One trained caregiver, attendant or nurse stays in your home round the clock, seven days a week.
Caregivers and attendants provide non-medical support: help with daily living, mobility, feeding, hygiene, companionship and watchfulness. Nurses, where engaged, carry out clinical tasks only as directed by the treating doctor and within the limits of their qualification and registration.
3. What we are not
We are not a hospital, a clinic, a diagnostic service or an emergency service, and nothing on this website is medical advice. We do not diagnose, prescribe, alter prescriptions, or override a doctor. We do not provide ICU-level care, ventilator management or emergency resuscitation.
In a medical emergency, call your hospital or emergency services first. Tell us afterwards. Our staff are instructed to raise the alarm and contact you and emergency services, not to attempt treatment beyond their training.
4. How an engagement starts
We begin with a short assessment, usually by phone, covering the person's condition, the help they need, the home, and the kind of person who would suit. We then send a written quote setting out the type of staff, what is included and excluded, the monthly charge, rest-day arrangements, and payment terms.
Care begins once you accept that quote and we confirm a placement. Care typically starts usually within 24 to 48 hours of the assessment call, though this depends on the type of staff needed and their availability. The assessment carries no obligation and no charge.
5. Fees and payment
Live-in care is charged per month. Live-in care is priced per month. It depends on the type of staff, the patient's needs and the duration. We share a written quote after a short assessment, with no commitment. Charges, the billing cycle, the payment method, any advance or deposit, and any applicable taxes are as stated in your written quote.
Fees are for the placement and our coordination of it. Unless your quote says otherwise, they do not include the caregiver's meals, medicines, medical equipment, consumables such as diapers or gloves, or travel you ask the caregiver to make on your behalf. Where a placement runs beyond the agreed scope, for example a second person needing care in the same home, we will agree a revised quote with you before continuing.
6. Duty, rest and leave
A live-in placement means one person staying in your home round the clock. It does not mean a person who is awake for twenty-four hours. Our staff need to sleep, eat, wash and rest, and the law and simple decency require it. Your quote states the daily rest time and the weekly rest day or leave arrangement that applies to your placement.
If you need genuine round-the-clock wakefulness, for example for a patient who needs turning through the night, tell us at assessment: that needs two people in rotation, not one, and we will quote for it honestly rather than let one person fail at it.
7. Your responsibilities
- Give us accurate, complete information about the person's condition, diagnosis, medication and the doctor's instructions, and tell us promptly when these change.
- Disclose anything that affects the safety of our staff or of the person receiving care, including infectious illness, aggression or a history of it, and anyone else in the home who may pose a risk.
- Provide a safe and lawful working environment, free of harassment, abuse and discrimination.
- Provide the live-in caregiver with a clean place to sleep, meals or an agreed allowance, drinking water, use of a bathroom, and the agreed rest time and rest day.
- Arrange the equipment the doctor recommends, such as a hospital bed, air mattress, walker or oxygen, and keep prescribed medicines in stock.
- Remain the point of contact with the hospital and treating doctor, and take the medical decisions. Our staff carry out care, they do not decide treatment.
- Keep cash, jewellery and valuables secured, as you would with anyone working in your home.
- Pay the agreed fees on time.
8. Our responsibilities
- Select staff for your placement with care, following the checks described on our about page.
- Brief the person placed on the specific needs of your family before they start.
- Supervise the placement through a Hyderabad-based coordinator and stay reachable while it runs.
- Treat everything we learn about your family as confidential, as set out in our privacy policy.
- Act on concerns you raise, promptly and without argument.
9. Replacement and continuity
If a caregiver is unwell, absent or not the right fit for your family, we arrange a replacement as quickly as possible and keep you informed throughout.
If the person placed is not the right fit, tell your coordinator rather than managing it yourself. A change of caregiver is a normal part of home care and not a complaint against you or against them.
10. Changes, notice and cancellation
You can extend a placement, change it, for example from a nurse to an attendant as someone recovers, or end it, by telling your coordinator. We ask for reasonable notice so that the person placed is not left without work or wages at no notice, and so that we can plan a handover. The notice period and any charge for ending early are stated in your written quote.
We may end a placement, after telling you, if:
- the home is unsafe for our staff, or our staff are mistreated, harassed or asked to work outside the agreed scope;
- material information about the person's condition was withheld from us;
- agreed fees remain unpaid after we have asked for them; or
- the care needed has moved beyond what home care can safely provide, in which case we will say so and recommend you speak to the treating doctor.
11. Engaging our staff directly
Please do not hire a caregiver, attendant or nurse we introduced to you directly, or through anyone else, while the placement is running or for a period afterwards as stated in your quote. We carry the cost of finding, checking, briefing and supervising them, and a direct hire removes the supervision, the replacement cover and the accountability that you engaged us for. If you would like to keep someone with your family longer term, talk to us and we will find a way that works for everyone, including for them.
12. Conduct and dignity
We require our staff to treat every person in your home with dignity, patience and confidentiality, and to be honest with you. We ask the same of you towards them. Caste, religion, gender and language preferences about who you would be comfortable with are ones we will try to accommodate at the assessment stage; abuse, harassment or demeaning treatment of a person already placed with you is not something we will accommodate, and it will end the placement.
13. Complaints
Raise any concern with your coordinator on +91 99120 21799 as soon as it arises, however small. We would far rather hear about something in week one than read about it later. Tell us what happened and what you would like done; we will look into it, tell you what we find, and put right what we can.
14. Limits of our responsibility
We take real care in selecting, briefing and supervising the people we place, and we stand behind that. But care at home is delivered inside limits set by the doctor's plan, the equipment available, and the accuracy of what we are told. To the extent the law allows:
- we are not responsible for the outcome of medical decisions, diagnoses or treatment plans, which are the treating doctor's;
- we are not responsible for harm arising from information about the condition that was not disclosed to us, or from instructions that were not shared with us;
- we are not responsible for the deterioration or progression of an illness, which is a medical matter and not a failure of care;
- we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses; and
- where we are found responsible for something, our liability is limited to the fees paid to us for the placement concerned.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
15. Events beyond control
Neither of us is responsible for failing to meet these terms because of something genuinely outside our control, such as a natural disaster, epidemic, civil disturbance, strike, or an order of a public authority. If such an event disrupts a placement we will tell you promptly and do what we reasonably can to restore it.
16. Using this website
This website is offered for information about our services. The content, text, images and design are ours, and you may not copy or republish them for commercial use without our permission. We keep the information accurate and current as best we can, but service descriptions and guidance articles are general and are not a substitute for the assessment, the written quote, or advice from a doctor. Links to other websites are for convenience and we are not responsible for their content.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. The current version is always the one on this page, with the date at the top. Changes do not alter the quote already agreed for a placement that is running.
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Hyderabad, Telangana have jurisdiction over any dispute. Before going to court, we ask that you raise the matter with us directly so that we have a fair chance to resolve it.
